Gray Fossil Site & Museum
Travel more than four million years back in time at the Gray Fossil Site and Museum. The exciting paleontology site was discovered accidentally during road construction in the year 2000 and is considered the most significant North American site from the Miocene Age. It is nearly five acres in size and 100 feet deep.
The museum staff and volunteers have excavated thousands of specimens, including alligators, camels, sloths, elephants, rhinos, tapirs, peccaries, and other species totally new to science. The attractions include life-sized skeletal re-creations of some of the animals and dozens of interactive display that allow visitors to dig for fossils, examine bones, and experience scientific discovery firsthand.
